Painting/Sketch – Murlough Bay, Co. Down

I painted /sketched this painting a few years ago, after an amazing trip to Newcastle Co. Down, Northern Ireland. We spent a lot of time on the strand as the tide was out in Murlough Bay, this is my impression of the beautiful bay as tide was out.
I took a photo, but it came out so grey and deep blue, it just did not do justice to my memory of the sunset over the Mountains of Mourne and the colours in Murlough Bay. Of course, there is artistic interpretation here… I have just recently came across this painting, when I cleared out some presses, nice to take it out of its dusty home for the last few years and give it a digital airing.
The scene was sketched first, some coloured pencils were used and some watercolour pencils and watercolour washes. It’s dimensions are A3. (my A3 watercolour paper pad)
