Newsletter Solution – MailChimp

Posted on | March 5, 2010 | Comments Off

There are various newsletter solutions on the market. For example campaign monitor are excellent and their pricing is competitive. However, MailChimp is another really excellent newsetter solution – particularly when you are starting out in managing and sending newsletters to your email list.  I have used campaign monitor a lot to set up newsletter solutions for clients and it is really an excellent solution.  MailChimp is very similar to campain monitor, except it actually provides a FREE service if you have less than 500 subscribers and if you send less than 6 campaigns per month.  I will definitely be recommending it to clients as another alternative.

These newsletters solutions are hosted online, where you can keep a record of your subscriber list, subscribers can subscribe and unsubscribe themselves to your newsletter, you can create the email campaigns and send to your subscribers, you can also get a form that can be input into a page on your website. Its a fully managed solution for your newsletter needs. Typically pricing entails either a monthly fee or a per campaign fee and then a few cents per recipient of your newsletter.

The Forever Free Plan – MailChimp

The forever free plan is a really good value service. If your Subscribers are less than 500 and your dont send to more than 3000 per month (6 campaigns) – then they provide a free service – you can set up your newsletter solution with them and manage your newsletter from within your account.

* Store up to 500 subscribers
* Send up to 3,000 emails per month
* No contracts or credit cards required

Designing your email newsletter

Both newsletter solutions provide free templates that you can use as the design for your newsletter.  However, if you want the design of your newsletter to have similar features and layout and some branding from your website, then that is when it is good to employ a web designer to do this for you.  They can create a customised html email template for you, based on adapting the default newsletter template, and then for all your newsletter campaigns you will have a design that fits with all your web and print design materials.  Of course, if you are comfortable with html – you can give this a go yourself.

Contact me if you would like to avail of my services to design and create your own customised html template for any of the above newsletter solutions.

[Please excuse the monkey ads that will no doubt arise in the google ads that are placed on this page - unless of course, you are on the lookout for the purchase of a monkey - then you have come to the right place!!!]
