Social Media Case Study: Garrendenny Lane Interiors by Keith Shirley

Posted on | May 15, 2009 | 5 Comments

garrendennylanelogo-300x114The Garrendenny Lane Interiors blog is an excellent example of how one can market ones business, skills, services and products via a website. The blog is really worth checking out as an example of how to promote ones business via electronic means.  The buzz word for this is Business Blogging.

I was employed to design and set up the Garrendenny Lane Interiors website, blog and online shop in close consultation with the business owner, Lorna Sixsmith in 2008. I also designed the logo (see image to the left). After training provided via one to one lessons and email documentation, Lorna manages all aspects of the website herself and in particular makes regular and relevant postings to her blog.  Interestingly, from the outset of the design brief, Lorna wanted to blog, after attending courses that mentioned how powerful blogging can be for a business.

Keith Shirley of Shercom wrote an excellent article for the iia blog (Irish Internet Association) on Lornas Business – Garrendenny Lane Interiors.

    Hi Maura,

Thanks for pointing your readers at our blog and Keith’s item on Garrendenny Lane Interiors in particular. I wasn’t aware of Lorna’s business before Keith’s case study and I have to say that you and her seem well matched in style: the site and its contents are very attractive.

If your readers are interested in finding out more about Business Blogging both Keith and I and the rest of the members of the IIA Social Media Working Group have created a Guide to Blogging for Business which can be downloaded from http://iia.ie/smwg. It is currently available only to IIA members but if somebody really wants to get a hold of it, they can find my contact details on the http://www.iia.ie

    Have a great weekend!

    Hi Maura,

Thanks for the compliments – it’s nice to get feedback.

I’ll be continuing the showcase articles soon. The idea is to help create a little exposure for local businesses – regardless of them being customers of mine or not. Time has not been on my side but I hope to have the next one up in a few days.
