Web Designer Role

Posted on | May 10, 2007 | Comments Off

A web designer can provide a wide range of solutions in order to assist a client to get a website designed and built. In a way a web designer is like an architect. He/she has to plan all the many facets that go into making a web page look good, be simple to use and work efficiently. Just like buildings there is no one way to design or build a website. Typically there is no single recommended budget to build a website.

There are many types of websites for many types of budgets. For example, you may want a small site with up to 5 pages, providing information about your business and an online presences for your customers and clients. This is typically called a brochure website.  It consists of content and graphic design images marked up with xHTML and CSS web coding.

Do you want to have a particular look and feel for your website? are there specific colours, graphics and logos that you would like to have on your webiste, the would entail then getting your web designer to work with these design elements and to then create first, a unique graphic design for your site. If you want to work with your website as a marketing and information resource tool, then attention to getting a well designed website is worthwhile.  The Web Designers role is to ensure the website is visually pleasing and easy to use. Some websites have a considerable amount of content and as well as designing for that content, the content has to be organised and structured efficiently.

A web designers role then is increasingly that of consultant, graphic designer and web developer. As there are so many kinds of websites that can be created and potential clients have varying priorities and needs in relation to their website budget. It is best to contact a web designer, be up front about your budget. The web designer will be able to tell you what can be achieved with that budget and make suggestions as to how to get the best website organised for you for that price.
