Snowy Bench

Snow time hits carlow. After years of telling my family and my parents who live in leitrim (north west of Ireland) that the climate in carlow some 125 miles away is like living in the mediteranean in comparison to living in the north west…..well the tables turned this february. Chatting to my mother on the phone, I found she was basking in sunshine and us sunny south easterners were drudging in snow!!!
Trying to photograph snow without getting covered in it and without my hands turning to ice, was a bit tricky. I wanted to be able to get the flakes as they fell – even though it was quite dark at the time. However, I really liked how the flash kind of caught the flakes and made them into little small balls of light!
