Dublin Gaa Games Development

The Dublin Gaa County Board Games Development website has been given a complete make over and has been re-launched with an improved resource section for coaches and information on courses and workshops. It was completed and went live on 3rd September 2009. The website was redesigned and restructured and brought up to date with the latest layout and technologies.

Design
The focus and brief was on design, simple to follow navigation, focused content areas, news and calendar of events, and dynamic input of content to different parts of the website, so when a piece of content is added or updated, it appears in several key areas of the website. The site is very easy to manage and is well structured. It means that the Dublin Gaa Games Development team can edit and add new content to the website easily.
Features of Website
Training Drill Animations
The website consists of at least 50 Training Drill animations, that were created by the Dublin GAA Games and Coaching team – I think they did a real good job creating these animations. I sourced a video screen recorder for them to capture the animations they created in bespoke software and a video player to play the videos in all their training drill pages and styled the player and page, a ratings voting scheme was also added.

Calendar of Events
An events and google map solution was built, so that an event is input once, but then is presented on several pages and on several menus, on key page of the site. The events solution enables the site visitor to click on the event and find out where it is on and also find out what other events are on at that location. The events are also time sensitive, so that each day the next five events are pulled into the relevant areas of the website, and the site author does not have to manually input these events, they are automatically placed in the page. This can be seen on the homepage and several sidebar menus on other pages.

Hi Maura,
Site looks great!
What plugin did you use to rotate the header images?

Thank you very much – Initially I used a php rotation script – that cycles through the images in a folder. You can get the script here at http://ma.tt/scripts/randomimage/ – however, then I went on to use a jquery slideshow solution, based on jquery slideshows at http://malsup.com/jquery/cycle/
All best, Maura
