The website for the IASPES – The Edith Stein Circle website has just been launched – 29th January 2010. The website is a new website for the newly set up International Association for the Study of the Philosophy of Edith Stein. The website has a custom design and has a CMS (Content Management System) for updating the website.
Website Features
Several features have been built for this website – a custom calendar page to announce events, an online donation form and online sign up for membership form accepting payments via paypal, as well as a customised email newsletter solution with sign up form on website.
Tasks involved in building this website
- Make a vector version of hand drawn logo
- Style Heading Text to act as a logo
- Custom Design of website using the colours of deep blue, white and lemon and ochre and left side navigation
- Create a unique theme for the CMS wordpress. One main layout was created
- Assist in setting up a merchant paypal account to take donation and membership payments
- Add particular extra functions to the CMS – a calendar events solution, signup for newsletter, paypal online donation form, paypal online membership payment form, incorporate a page sub menu that only appears on parent page. Special custom layout for the membership and committee page, with custom image size on upload
- Build the pages and subpages of the website.
- Arrange domain name and hosting
- Build newsletter solution with campaign monitor
I worked closely with Haydn – the webmaster for this website, a philosophy scholar. Haydn now manages the website brilliantly – all the elements from content to newsletter.
